About image file size
Start with the destination website’s file-size limit and accepted formats. Enter a target from 1 to 30,000 KB, then choose JPG or WebP. The tool may reduce both quality and pixel dimensions to meet the target. A file that fits the byte limit can still fail other requirements, such as minimum dimensions or an accepted file type.
Frequently asked questions
Will the result fit my file-size limit?
A successful result is at or below the target you entered. If the browser cannot produce a valid file within that budget, the tool reports an error. This does not guarantee acceptance by the destination website.
How does this tool measure KB?
Here, 1 KB means 1,000 bytes, so a 100 KB target means 100,000 bytes. Use a slightly lower target if a website’s size check or rounding causes a file near the limit to be rejected.
Will reducing file size change the image dimensions?
It can. The tool first looks for an encoding that fits, then reduces dimensions when needed. Check the displayed output width and height if your form requires a minimum image size.
Why is the result smaller than the target?
The target is a maximum, not an exact size. The tool does not add padding or enlarge an image to fill unused space. An original that already fits in the selected format is returned unchanged.
What if the file is small enough but the form still rejects it?
Check the required format, pixel dimensions and any photo-content rules. This tool exports JPG or WebP, including when the input is PNG. If the form requires PNG or exact dimensions, use a suitable converter or the Image Resizer.
